Compass Module for ADI2 and S20/S200
An external compass module supplying magnetic heading to compatible LXNAV ADI2 and S20/S200 instruments. It features tilt compensation and automatic in-flight calibration. Use with the ADI2 is covered by the applicable EASA STC conditions; instrument firmware and connections must be checked before ordering.
LXNAV Certified Compass – magnetic heading on your instrument display
The LXNAV Certified Compass is an external module supplying magnetic heading to a compatible instrument. It is supported by the LXNAV ADI2 and S20/S200 variometers.
The module adds information about the direction of the aircraft's longitudinal axis relative to magnetic north.
Who is the Certified Compass for?
For LXNAV ADI2 owners
Add magnetic heading, with the option to replace the original compass where the applicable STC requirements are met.
For S20 and S200 owners
An external magnetic heading source for variometers that the manufacturer confirms support this module.
Magnetic heading and GPS track
Magnetic heading describes the direction of the aircraft's longitudinal axis. GPS track describes its actual direction of movement over the ground. These directions commonly differ in a crosswind.
The compass therefore supplies different information from GPS alone. When comparing indications, also check whether they reference magnetic or true north.
Tilt compensation and calibration
The module combines magnetic and inertial sensors to calculate heading with tilt compensation. Calculations run 50 times per second.
Automatic in-flight calibration is supported. Correct positioning and orientation remain essential parts of the installation.
Compatibility and STC installation
LXNAV ADI2
The installation documentation requires ADI2 firmware 2.0 and compass software App_MAGC_3.03 or later for the magnetic heading function.
Replacement of the original magnetic compass is permitted under the conditions of EASA STC 10088573. The exact aircraft must be checked against the current AML, and the installation documentation must be followed. Operation under this STC is limited to day VFR.
LXNAV S20/S200
The manufacturer also confirms module support for the S20 and S200. Required firmware and connections must be checked for the specific installation. The ADI2 STC does not automatically extend to this combination.

What to check before ordering
- The main instrument model and firmware version.
- Required wiring, connectors and any adapters.
- A mounting location away from magnetic interference, particularly speakers, ferromagnetic parts and power wiring.
- The approved installation requirements if the module will replace the original compass.
The compass can be added to the LXNAV ADI2 or a compatible LXNAV S20/S200 installation. Select the connections for the specific instrument.

Frequently asked questions
Compatibility, heading information and installation.
Does the module work as a standalone cockpit compass?
Heading is displayed through a compatible main instrument. The manufacturer confirms support for the ADI2, S20 and S200.
Why can heading differ from GPS track?
Heading describes the aircraft's orientation, while GPS track describes its movement over the ground. A crosswind is one reason for a difference.
Which firmware does the ADI2 require?
The installation documentation requires ADI2 FW 2.0 and compass software App_MAGC_3.03 or later.
Can the original magnetic compass be removed?
The applicable STC permits this with the ADI2 when its conditions are met. Eligibility must be checked for the exact aircraft and installation.
Does the same STC cover the S20 and S200?
Confirmed S20/S200 compatibility does not establish the same approval as the ADI2 installation. Any replacement of the original compass requires a separate assessment.
