LXNAV LX9000 – 5.6-inch glider flight computer

The LXNAV LX9000 combines navigation, variometer data, final glide calculations and IGC flight recording in one integrated system. It is designed for glider pilots who need a detailed moving map, competition task management and configurable flight information.

The main unit features a 5.6-inch colour display with automatic brightness adjustment. Pages and data fields can be customised with LX Styler.

The standard package includes a V8 variometer and an integrated IGC recorder. HAWK, AHRS, Wi-Fi, touchscreen and built-in PowerFLARM depend on the selected configuration.

Who is the LX9000 for?

Competition pilots
Declared tasks, AAT functions, time calculations, final glide information and flight statistics are available in one navigation environment.

Cross-country pilots
The display provides room for the map, airspace boundaries, nearby airports and relevant flight data.

New and upgraded instrument panels
Portrait and landscape installation are supported. Panel space, wiring and compatibility should be checked before ordering.

Navigation, tasks and final glide

The LX9000 provides moving-map navigation with terrain, airports, waypoints and airspace information. Tasks can be created on the instrument or transferred from planning software, including Assigned Area Tasks (AAT).

Final glide calculations use the glider polar, MacCready setting, ballast and bugs. The system updates remaining distance, arrival altitude and other task information during flight.

  • Airport, waypoint and task navigation, including AAT
  • Final glide and estimated arrival altitude
  • Airspace and airport information
  • CUP and CUPX file support
  • Custom layouts with LX Styler
  • Flight statistics and logbook

IGC flight recorder and traffic

The integrated IGC flight recorder includes an engine noise level (ENL) sensor. Flight records can be downloaded via SD card or USB, or transferred using supported Wi-Fi connectivity.

Electric or jet-powered sailplanes may require an external MOP/MOP2 sensor for the relevant IGC engine-operation recording.

With compatible FLARM or PowerFLARM equipment, the LX9000 displays traffic and alerts. Integrated PowerFLARM and ADS-B In are optional, not standard equipment.

V8, V9 and V80 variometers

The standard LX9000 package includes a V8 variometer. A V9 with mechanical needle or a larger digital V80 can be selected instead.

Which one to choose? V8 is the general-purpose 57 mm option. V9 offers a conventional mechanical pointer, while V80 provides more screen space.

* HAWK requires compatible LX9000 hardware, a V8 or V80 and an active licence. Allow additional room for connectors and wiring.

Optional features

HAWK
Advanced air-mass and wind estimation using an extended Kalman filter. Compatible hardware and a software licence are required.

AHRS
Optional attitude display using inertial data; not a substitute for certified flight instruments.

PowerFLARM and ADS-B In
Traffic display with the appropriate integrated or compatible external receiver.

Touchscreen
The LX9000 T variant adds touch control. The non-touch model uses physical buttons and rotary selectors.

Other equipment
Optional Wi-Fi, remote stick, flap sensor, instrument interfaces and rear-seat equipment.

LXNAV Connect – cloud services and flight preparation

LXNAV Connect connects the LX9000 to supported cloud storage and weather services. Tasks, waypoints, airspace files and compatible pilot profiles can be prepared on a computer and transferred without using an SD card.

Dropbox, Google Drive and SeeYou Cloud
Linked accounts make supported file transfers and synchronisation easier, especially for competition tasks and display profiles created with LX Styler.

SkySight and TopMeteo
Supported weather forecasts can appear as overlays on the moving map, placing forecast information in the context of the planned task and current position.

After landing
IGC files can be uploaded to supported linked services. Competition data from SoaringSpot and other online functions are also supported.

Getting started
Link your accounts at LXNAV Connect, connect your suitably equipped LX9000 to the internet, for example through a phone hotspot, and select the service on the instrument.

Wi-Fi is optional. Some services require their own account or subscription. Feature availability depends on device generation and software version.

Display and controls

The 5.6-inch display offers 640 × 480 resolution, 1,200 cd/m² manufacturer-specified brightness and an ambient light sensor (ALS).

Four rotary selectors and eight buttons provide physical control. The unit can be installed in portrait or landscape orientation.
