LXNAV S100 – Variometer, Navigation and IGC Flight Recorder

The LXNAV S100 is a stand-alone digital variometer designed for glider pilots who want to combine accurate variometer information, navigation and flight recording in a single instrument.

In addition to the functions of an electronic variometer, the S100 offers moving-map navigation, final glide calculations, task management and an integrated IGC flight recorder.

Designed for a standard 80 mm instrument panel cutout, the S100 is suitable for both new installations and upgrades to existing glider instrument panels.

Who Is the LXNAV S100 For?

For pilots looking for more than a conventional variometer
Variometer information, navigation, final glide calculations and flight recording in one compact unit.

For cross-country and competition flying
Task navigation, waypoints, airspace information and calculations useful for cross-country soaring.

For upgrading an existing instrument panel
The standard 80 mm panel cutout makes the S100 suitable for many glider installations. Available mounting depth and connections should be checked before installation.

Variometer and Navigation

The S100 uses pressure sensors and an integrated inertial measurement unit to provide responsive flight information. The variometer display can be configured according to pilot preferences.

The instrument supports MacCready settings, ballast and bug adjustments, speed-to-fly information and final glide calculations. The Thermal Assistant provides graphical information about thermal lift.

Navigation features include:

  • Waypoint and task navigation
  • Moving-map display and airspace information
  • Final glide calculations
  • Customisable navigation data fields
  • Support for CUP and CUB files

IGC Flight Recorder and Connectivity

The integrated IGC flight recorder allows pilots to record their flights without requiring a separate logger for standard flight recording.

The S100 features integrated GPS, Bluetooth and data interfaces for communication with compatible accessories and external instruments. Supported equipment includes certain navigation devices and remote controls.

When connected to a compatible external FLARM or PowerFLARM device, the S100 can display traffic information and collision warnings.

Please note: The S100 does not include a built-in FLARM receiver. A compatible external device is required to display traffic information.

Optional Upgrades and Controls

The instrument can be enhanced with optional software features.

AHRS
Enables an artificial horizon display using the instrument's integrated inertial sensors.

HAWK
An advanced algorithm for evaluating air-mass movement and calculating wind, based on an extended Kalman filter.

The S100 features a bright 3.5-inch colour display with automatic brightness adjustment. It is operated using two rotary controls with push-button functionality and three additional buttons.

The integrated backup battery provides up to three hours of operation according to the manufacturer. Actual operating time depends on battery condition and operating conditions.

AHRS and HAWK are optional software features and are not automatically included in the standard configuration.
