Naviter Oudie N – portable glider navigation with SeeYou Navigator

Naviter Oudie N is a self-contained portable flight computer for glider pilots. It combines moving-map navigation, task management, final glide calculations, weather information and automatic flight recording in a battery-powered device.

Oudie N runs SeeYou Navigator, connecting flight preparation, in-flight navigation and post-flight analysis. Its 5.5-inch Full HD touchscreen can display tasks, airspace, airports and essential flight information. The device also has its own GNSS receiver, pressure sensor and backup variometer.

The large internal battery enables long flights without a permanent connection to the glider's electrical system. This makes Oudie N particularly useful for pilots who fly several sailplanes or prefer not to modify the instrument panel.

Important difference from Oudie N IGC: Oudie N automatically creates IGC-format flight files for analysis and supported online contests, but it does not contain an IGC-approved flight recorder for badges, records or other flights requiring a certified logger.

Who is Oudie N for?

Cross-country glider pilots
Detailed maps, final glide calculations, the thermal assistant and task navigation provide useful information for planning and managing flights.

Pilots flying different sailplanes
With its own battery and GNSS receiver, Oudie N can be moved between aircraft. The included suction cup mount avoids the need for permanent installation.

Pilots using SeeYou
Tasks, waypoint collections and flight records can be synchronised with SeeYou Cloud, reducing manual file transfers before and after flight.

Pilots who do not require an approved IGC recorder
If official badge or record documentation is not required, the standard Oudie N provides the same principal navigation environment as the IGC version.

Flight recording: an IGC file is not the same as an approved logger

SeeYou Navigator automatically records flights on Oudie N. It detects take-off, saves position, altitude, time and other relevant information, and ends the recording after landing. The pilot does not need to start flight recording manually before each take-off.

Flights are stored in the logbook as IGC files. They can be opened in SeeYou, analysed, shared and submitted to supported online contests, such as OLC or WeGlide, subject to their individual rules.

However, standard Oudie N is not an IGC-approved flight recorder. For records, badges or competitions that require a particular level of approved flight recording, choose Oudie N IGC or another suitable certified recorder.

Naviter also offers an upgrade path from Oudie N to Oudie N IGC. Availability and the required procedure should be checked for the individual device.

SeeYou Navigator – moving map, tasks and final glide

SeeYou Navigator provides a moving map with terrain, airports, waypoints and airspace. Screens and navboxes can be customised to display the information needed during different phases of flight.

Final glide calculations use the glider polar, MacCready setting, ballast and other relevant flight data. The system provides arrival altitude, task information and guidance for continuing along a cross-country task.

Navigation functions include:

• Final glide and estimated arrival altitude
• Thermal assistant and cross-country optimisation
• Airspace warnings and airport database

SeeYou Cloud – simpler file management before and after flight

Oudie N integrates directly with SeeYou Cloud. One of the practical benefits is that tasks and waypoint files do not need to be copied manually every time they change. Flight preparation, in-flight navigation and post-flight analysis can be managed within the same system.

Before flight
Prepare your task and waypoint collections in SeeYou Cloud. Once Oudie N is signed in and connected to the internet, supported collections can be synchronised to the instrument. CUP files and task QR codes provide additional import methods.

In flight
Oudie uses the selected task and previously downloaded maps. Navigation, final glide, the thermal assistant and local flight recording work without mobile coverage.

After landing
Flights are saved in the onboard logbook. Once connected to the internet, supported flight records synchronise with SeeYou Cloud, where they can be analysed, shared or submitted to supported online contests.

Licence and subscription
SeeYou Navigator is included with a perpetual licence for the Oudie N device, and Naviter provides software updates for its lifetime. A new Oudie N also includes one year of SeeYou Cloud, activated when the user signs in for the first time. Continued use of paid cloud services after this period requires the appropriate subscription.

SeeYou Cloud is a Naviter service. It is separate from LXNAV Connect, which is intended for supported LXNAV flight computers.

SkySight, TopMeteo and online weather

Oudie N can show supported weather information directly on the moving map, allowing pilots to relate forecast conditions to the planned task, terrain and current position.

SkySight and TopMeteo
Supported weather layers include selected forecasts for wind, thermals, cloud-related information and other parameters, depending on the provider. Some weather products can be downloaded before flight for offline use.

Rain radar and satellite imagery
Online layers provide additional information about developing weather conditions. Their timeliness depends on the service and internet connectivity.

SeeYou Navigator also supports online traffic information from OGN and selected thermal and route data from other supported providers.

Subscriptions: SkySight and TopMeteo are third-party services requiring separate subscriptions. They are not included in the instrument price or the SeeYou Cloud subscription. An internet connection is needed for current online data.

Bluetooth connectivity with FLARM and cockpit instruments

Oudie N includes Bluetooth Low Energy and supports data reception from compatible external flight instruments. Depending on the connected equipment, it can receive traffic information, pressure altitude, variometer data or airspeed.

Direct Bluetooth connection
Selected modern instruments can be connected without an adapter. Naviter lists support for certain LXNAV devices, FLARM/PowerFLARM products and other variometers. Compatibility depends on the specific model and firmware.

Naviter Bluetooth Dongle
For devices with serial data output but no compatible Bluetooth interface, an optional adapter can be used. Versions are available for LXNAV PDA ports, LX Navigation User ports, FLARM ports and Condor. These versions use different pinouts.

Traffic display
When connected to an external FLARM or PowerFLARM, Oudie N can display nearby traffic and alerts. Oudie N itself does not contain an integrated FLARM transmitter or receiver.

Important: A Bluetooth Dongle is not included as standard. The correct version must be selected for the instrument and connector. Using the wrong pinout may damage the adapter or connected avionics.

Display, backup variometer and battery endurance

Oudie N features a 5.5-inch Full HD touchscreen with 1920 × 1080 pixel resolution and manufacturer-specified brightness of 1,000 cd/m². Portrait and landscape orientation and multi-touch map controls are supported.

The device includes a GNSS receiver supporting GPS, Galileo and GLONASS, a precision pressure sensor and a gyro-assisted variometer. These sensors allow independent navigation and backup variometer operation without permanently connecting to external cockpit instruments.

The internal battery has a capacity of 16,000 mAh. Naviter specifies more than 15 hours at maximum screen brightness, over 20 hours under typical automatic-brightness conditions and more than 64 hours of flight recording with the screen switched off.

Charging uses USB-C. USB OTG is supported, and the instrument can also be used to charge a phone. Actual endurance depends on screen brightness, temperature, mobile data use and battery condition.

Wi-Fi, mobile data and software updates

Oudie N includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE and 4G/LTE. Internet access can be provided via a Wi-Fi network, smartphone hotspot or SIM card with an active mobile data plan.

When online, the device can synchronise SeeYou Cloud, download maps and databases, access supported weather services and install SeeYou Navigator updates.

Initial setup involves signing in to a SeeYou account. Core navigation and locally stored flight recording do not subsequently require continuous internet access.

USB-C provides charging and file transfer. Some older cockpit instruments require a suitable additional interface for data connectivity.

Technical specifications

Battery endurance figures are manufacturer estimates. Actual operating time depends on use and battery condition. Online features require connectivity.

What to check before ordering

• Whether you need standard IGC-format files or an approved flight recorder for official sporting purposes
• Mounting location, screen visibility and available cockpit space
• Internal battery operation or external USB-C power
• Connections to FLARM, PowerFLARM or an external variometer
• Correct Naviter Bluetooth Dongle version for the connected instrument
• Whether a SIM card and mobile data plan are required
• SeeYou Cloud account and any SkySight or TopMeteo subscription
