Naviter Oudie N IGC – portable flight computer with an approved IGC recorder

The Oudie N IGC is a portable navigation system for glider pilots who want task navigation, weather information, final glide calculations and an approved IGC flight recorder in one self-contained instrument.

Unlike the standard Oudie N Gliding, the IGC version includes a flight recorder with the highest level of IGC approval for competitions, badges and record flights. Naviter also specifies approval for powered sailplanes, including engine-operation recording.

Oudie N IGC runs SeeYou Navigator on a 5.5-inch Full HD sunlight-readable touchscreen. It has its own GNSS receiver, pressure sensor and large internal battery, making it suitable for use in different gliders without requiring a permanent panel installation.

With Wi-Fi or mobile internet connectivity, it integrates with SeeYou Cloud, weather services and other online data sources. Core navigation and flight recording also work offline.

Who is Oudie N IGC for?

Competition glider pilots
The approved IGC recorder supports official flight documentation. SeeYou Navigator provides task navigation, Assigned Area Tasks, final glide and timing information.

Pilots flying different sailplanes
The portable unit has its own battery and can be moved between aircraft. A suction cup mounting system is included.

Pilots using SeeYou
Tasks, waypoint collections and flight records can be managed through SeeYou Cloud, simplifying preparation and post-flight analysis.

Independent navigation and backup variometer
The built-in GNSS receiver, pressure sensor and gyro-assisted variometer allow independent operation without an external flight computer. The Oudie is not a substitute for legally required flight instruments.

IGC-approved flight recording – the key difference

Oudie N IGC is more than a navigation unit that saves files in IGC format. It includes a secure, IGC-approved flight recorder. Naviter specifies its highest approval level for gliders and powered sailplanes, including badges, world records and Category 1 competitions.

Engine noise level (ENL) recording is supported. The manufacturer also specifies suitability for self-launching sailplanes, sustainer engines and electric propulsion.

SeeYou Navigator automatically detects take-off and landing, creating a flight record without requiring the pilot to manually start or stop logging. After landing, the flight is available in the logbook for review, sharing and submission to supported online contests.

Important: Official recognition requires a valid secure flight record and compliance with the relevant sporting rules. For powered sailplanes, the applicable engine-operation recording requirements should be checked.

SeeYou Navigator – tasks, moving map and final glide

SeeYou Navigator combines a moving map with terrain, airspace, airports and waypoints. Flight pages and navboxes can be customised for different phases of flight, and the touchscreen supports panning and pinch-to-zoom operation.

Final glide calculations use the glider polar, MacCready setting, ballast and other relevant data. The system provides arrival altitude, task information and calculations for cross-country flying.

Navigation features include:

  • Airport, waypoint and task navigation
  • Competition tasks, Assigned Area Tasks and timing calculations
  • Final glide and estimated arrival altitude
  • Thermal assistant, flight statistics and cross-country optimisation
  • Airspace warnings and airport database
  • Customisable navboxes and multiple map pages
  • Task loading from SoaringSpot or QR codes
  • Offline maps for navigation without mobile coverage

SeeYou Cloud – from flight planning to post-flight analysis

A practical advantage of Oudie N IGC is its direct integration with SeeYou Cloud. Instead of manually copying task files every day, pilots can manage preparation, in-flight navigation and flight analysis within the same SeeYou environment.

Before flight
Prepare your tasks and waypoints in SeeYou Cloud on a computer or another device. Supported collections synchronise with the Oudie when it connects to the internet. CUP file import and task QR codes provide additional ways to load flight data.

In flight
SeeYou Navigator uses the selected task, maps and settings. Downloaded map data remain available offline, and core navigation, final glide and IGC recording do not require mobile coverage.

After landing
Flights are stored in the onboard logbook. Once connected and signed in, supported flight records synchronise with SeeYou Cloud, where they can be reviewed, analysed, shared or submitted to supported competitions.

Licensing and subscription
Oudie N IGC includes a perpetual SeeYou Navigator licence for the device, with software updates included for its lifetime according to Naviter. A new Oudie N also includes one year of SeeYou Cloud, starting on first activation and login. Continued access to paid cloud services after the included period requires the appropriate subscription.

SeeYou Cloud is Naviter's platform. It is separate from LXNAV Connect, which is designed for supported LXNAV flight computers.

Weather, online traffic and live data

With an internet connection, Oudie N IGC can display supported weather and traffic layers on the moving map, adding useful context to the planned task and current position.

SkySight and TopMeteo
Available forecast layers may include wind, thermals, convergence, cloud-related information and other products offered by the weather provider. Supported weather data can also be downloaded in advance for offline use.

Rain radar and satellite imagery
Online overlays provide additional weather information. They are not a substitute for an onboard weather radar, and their timeliness depends on connectivity and data availability.

Open Glider Network and other services
SeeYou Navigator supports online traffic information from OGN and selected thermal and route information from thermal.kk7.ch. These features depend on the relevant network coverage and internet access.

Subscriptions: SkySight and TopMeteo are not included in the instrument price or the SeeYou subscription. They require separate subscriptions from the respective providers.

Connecting FLARM, variometers and other instruments

Oudie N IGC supports Bluetooth Low Energy connections to compatible external devices. Depending on the equipment, it can receive information such as traffic targets, pressure altitude and variometer data.

Direct Bluetooth connectivity
Selected modern instruments can be paired directly. Naviter lists support for compatible LXNAV devices, PowerFLARM products and several other variometers. Availability depends on the device model and software version.

Naviter Bluetooth Dongle
Older instruments without compatible Bluetooth can be connected using an optional Naviter Bluetooth Dongle at their serial data port. Different dongles are available for LXNAV PDA, LX Navigation User and FLARM ports. The correct version must be chosen for the instrument's connector and electrical pinout.

FLARM traffic display
With a compatible external FLARM or PowerFLARM, Oudie can display traffic information and alerts. Oudie N IGC does not contain an integrated FLARM transmitter or receiver.

Note: A Bluetooth Dongle is not included as standard. Versions with different connector pinouts are not interchangeable, and using the wrong type may damage the connected equipment.
